AAMI Governance

In 2018, AAMI built out a new leadership structure. The AAMI Steering Committee oversees four main organizational branches: communications, membership, governance, and the annual meeting.

What are the goals of The AAMI Leadership team?

  • Create a sustainable organization
  • Create a transparent leadership structure and succession plan
  • Form an entity that will lead the field of art museum interpretation
  • Establish a framework to define and manage membership
  • Develop a legal and financial framework for managing money  

Communications

  • Develops AAMI’s annual communications plan
  • Develops content for and manages social media, newsletter, website
  • Manages listserv and email lists

Governance

  • Develops bylaws and structure process for selecting leadership
  • Provides support for the steering committee to incorporate AAMI
  • Manages and refines committee structures as needed

Membership

  • Develops and maintains membership plan and strategy
  • Develops and maintains membership criteria
  • Determine and establish Membership benefits

Annual convening

  • Will include a local host committee as a sub group (1-3 people)
  • Plans meeting programming and agenda
  • Plans meeting logistics (hotels, locations, etc)
  • Works with communication and website committee to promote meeting
